I feel I need to lower my expectations on the Hilton brand. This is the second time I booked a Hilton-owned hotel through their app and arrived to find what is basically an old motel with the Hilton name slapped on it. The bathroom door particle board was disintegrating, the towels had ragged thready edges and were quite threadbare in places, the elevators were in disrepair... overalll, for nearly $300 a night I expected more from a Hilton hotel. The room is small (then again it is New York) but that much was expected. The furniture was shaky Ikea-type particle board with broken drawer runners. As far as staff, only the bellman who checked our baggage after check-out was friendly and helpful with a smile; the staff checking us in was curt and unsmiling. I don't think I'd book this hotel again, I would search for other hotels that were either closer to sights or in a better state of repair and cleanliness.
Very bad. Elevators were not functioning correctly our whole stay and there was 15+ floors, broken bathroom door and broken safe cabinets.
Pros. Room itself was clean and fine for what I reserved
Cons. On checking, I was initially charged $350 for my $200 room. It took a bit of effort to convince the one person behind the desk that he was overcharging me, including producing a printout of the reservation. Check-in was a 40 minute wait - at midnight. "City view" delivered - there was a fake facade 20' from my window on the second floor that I was looking at the inside of, with another tall building across the street from that. Just outside the window was a 15' gravel roof covered with trash. Coming and going involved going through a gauntlet of folks smoking pot and tobacco at the front door. None of these items are earth shattering, but it does make me think that Hilton is off their game. Back to Marriot if I have to stay in a chain.
Pros. Good location.
Cons. Please call to discuss thank you.
Pros. Nothing
Cons. Everything
Pros. The staff were very accommodating and friendly!
Cons. Explain the roof access. Both elevators did not go to the roof deck.
Pros. Rooms are more spacious compared to many other Midtown Manhattan hotel rooms. This is the best value for every dollar you spend!
